In a world where style is often paraded over comfort, and people are encouraged to alter themselves to fit beauty standards, insecurities, depression, and low self-esteem manifest in individuals. To combat the perpetuated idea of perfection, several fashion and beauty companies have stepped up and advocated for a broader, more inclusive definition of beauty.

NINA MONA is one such brand. Founded on the values of inclusivity and equity, the fashion brand is on a mission to bring people clothing and apparel that pushes against traditional sizing and aesthetic norms.

“We want people to feel comfortable and confident even on their off days. Not everyone or everything is perfect but we strive to push ourselves to bring our clients and supporters the best possible goods available,” Michael Nguyen, NINA MONA’s leading designer and founder, states.

Providing clothing for everyone of every size, NINA MONA stands for all individuals who tug uncomfortably at short, tight-fitting clothes; hold their breath to squeeze into clothing several sizes smaller; and those who long to feel comfortable in their own skin and their own clothing.

Through its wide array of clothing choices and designs, NINA MONA battles against society’s definition of perfection. NINA MONA wins this battle by working with creatives who share the same values. The brand enjoys and appreciates the processes of collaboration and innovation with other artists, with NINA MONA’s creativity stemming from a passion for innovation and custom work. As much as it can, the brand empowers and uplifts other artists and entrepreneurs.

By featuring and working with a diverse set of artists, NINA MONA releases a unique collection that is both fashionable and comfortable — connecting the community of artists and fashion enthusiasts is what fuels the brand’s drive to fulfill its purpose.

The fashion brand’s mission and values were heavily influenced by Michael’s experience growing up. “As a young creative, second-generation Vietnamese-American, my family has always had to face reality with adversity and compassion,” he shares. “It is my wish to balance the world back a bit with all of the pain and hurt we are seeing unfold around us, but with that, a lot of healing also occurs.“

Alongside its drive to spread inclusivity and equity in the world of fashion, NINA MONA also designs to inspire young creatives across the globe. With timeless brands and well-known, established artists dominating the market, it comes as no surprise if aspiring and young artists begin to lose heart at the thought of competition and loss. Michael’s NINA MONA is meant to show people that not everything in life has to be a win or lose scenario and that dreams and visions can be shared. His work and his team’s work at NINA MONA is dedicated to inspiring clients and creatives to rise to their fullest potential.

NINA MONA seeks to be an example to fashion brands anywhere, a shop where size does not matter, and comfort is of the utmost importance. Through their mission of inclusivity and equity and their mainly black and white designs, NINA MONA is changing the world one article of clothing at a time.

The brand is set to release its 2020 Midsommar Collection sometime this August. The Collection will feature some of the brand’s artists’ most significant works yet and has already left NINA MONA’s social media followers waiting with bated breath.
