JU$T CA$H, Jalen Chatman’s Fallback Plan When the Final Whistle Blows

Athletes often have the potential to make it big into their respective sports, even from college. However, not all student-athletes go on to succeed in their respective sports. Jalen Chatman, a student-athlete himself, created JU$T CA$H as a fall back to prepare himself for life after college.

Jalen Chatman is a 21-year-old athlete from Inglewood, California, who plays football in the first division at Portland State University, currently majoring in Business. He came from Narbonne High School, where he led his team to four city championships and two state championships. Jalen would end up receiving thirteen football scholarships out of high school. Like any athlete, Jalen had the potential to make it into college football, where he has continued his fine form so far.

His love for the sport is undeniable as he hopes to continue towards a football career. However, reality checked in when Chatman was asked the big question, “What are you going to do after football?” which made him think about life once the final whistle gets blown. While he initially had no answer, Chatman knew that his football days would eventually end. So he decided to prepare himself with something to fall back on.

When the pandemic struck, Jalen’s school semester was canceled, and along with it, football activities. With more free time, Jalen decided to venture into entrepreneurship and start his clothing brand, “JU$T CA$H.”

Jalen Chatman decided to go with a clothing brand as he had always been an entrepreneur at heart. When he was in early high school, Jalen ran a hat business as a side hustle before prioritizing football. Eventually, he decided to focus on football but would later find himself back to his early venture.

JU$T CA$H was started in May 2020 and has seen rapid growth in support and customers since its founding. Despite working on college courses and his football obligations, Jalen personally runs all the operations and productions. What makes JU$T CA$H unique compared to other small business clothing brands is Jalen’s constant innovation and resources.

He takes the time to personally buy and bring everything to get made and create designs. With a family member who owns his own graphic design company, Jalen had the resources to help him succeed in the clothing industry. JU$T CA$H was also able to stand in the spotlight, thanks to Jalen’s close friends, who greatly influenced several social platforms and helped promote and create content.

While the company has been successful so far, Jalen hopes to see JU$T CA$H go beyond and become a major clothing brand in the same category as other well-known brands like Undefeated, Billionaire Boys Club, Primitive, DGK, and other popular brands. He is hopeful that JU$T CA$H will have several outlets all over the country with endorsement deals partnering with several high profile athletes.

Jalen Chatman knows the game will eventually end, and he is prepared with a plan to fall back on.
